THE FOLLOWING IS IN RED TYPE TO STRESS IT'S IMPORTANCE
Take a minute on my FAQ page as this will help your and my planning.
It is always preferable that the fisherman/woman make contact with me rather than an intermediary.
PLEASE BE REALISTIC ABOUT YOUR FLY-FISHING LEVEL, IT'S NOT A PROBLEM IF YOU'RE A BEGINNER OR IMPROVER BUT PLEASE DO LET ME KNOW YOUR SKILL LEVEL AS THIS HELPS DECIDE WHERE WE FISH AND THE OPTIMUM DURATION OF YOUR SESSION.
Generally, IF YOU'VE DONE 1- 20 FULL DAYS + INSTRUCTN = NOVICE, 20-50 FULL DAYS = IMPROVER, 50-100 FULL DAYS = EXPERIENCED, 100+FULL DAYS = VERY EXPERIENCED
In high summer (July/Aug) water levels get low, rivers get weeded and fly-fishing is challenging even for the best, so it might be preferable to opt for a half-day rather than full day session unless one is a master in upstream presentation of dry-fly or nymph. I use a tidal stretch of the river Maigue to overcome low water levels by fishing the ebb tide, thus avoiding cancellations. Starting times are subject to tide times however.
Paddy Dunworth, a fishing guide based near Adare has been flyfishing for over 50 years and guiding visiting anglers for 23.
